CONIFER Featured in Archibuild Magazine Singapore

CONIFER is honored to be featured in the Sept-Oct 2025 issue of Archibuild Magazine Singapore, where Director and Founder Ray Agung shares reflections on inclusive landscape design through one of the firm’s recent projects.

The feature highlights an issue that remains persistent across many cities, particularly in Indonesia. Accessibility is still frequently treated as an afterthought, addressed late in the design process or reduced to regulatory compliance. This approach limits the social value of public spaces and excludes the very people landscapes are meant to serve.

From CONIFER’s experience, inclusive design does not require grand or costly interventions. Small, intentional design decisions can significantly change how a space is experienced. Continuous and smooth pathways support mobility across ages and abilities. Shaded areas provide comfort and rest in tropical climates. Inclusive play spaces invite participation rather than separation. Together, these elements shape landscapes that are usable, welcoming, and humane.

“For me, inclusive design is not about ticking boxes,” says Ray Agung. “It is about care. It is about imagining spaces that work for my parents, my child, and my neighbors. That is what good design should do: make everyone feel they belong.”

CONIFER extends its appreciation to Archibuild Magazine for the feature and for advancing conversations around inclusive, people-centered landscape design. These discussions are essential to shaping cities that are not only functional and visually compelling, but genuinely shared.
