Living Well, Outdoors, All Year.
JD Residence.
This project integrates wellness, outdoor living, and circulation into a cohesive landscape that functions as an extension of the home. A semi-indoor lounge transitions to a timber deck and connects via stepping stones and wooden risers to key zones, including a social sunken court, outdoor dining area, sauna, and cold plunge, establishing clear and intuitive movement throughout the site.
The wellness zone, inspired by Nordic bathing traditions, supports year-round use and is paired with a sunken gathering space centered on a calming water jug feature. Planting is structured to provide seasonal interest, texture, and privacy, using Malus sargentii, Acer japonicum, and evergreen screening with Thuja plicata, supported by layered grasses and perennials such as Festuca mairei and Echinacea purpurea.
Supporting elements including a minimalist carport, garage and gym, and a gravel driveway with integrated lighting balance practicality with refined character. Outdoor cooking, dining, and lawn areas further extend daily living into the garden, resulting in a restrained, functional, and seasonally responsive residential landscape.
