Tegal Alur Park was conceived as a 2018 competition proposal to transform an underutilized urban space in West Jakarta into a vibrant, inclusive, and community-driven park. The design embraces the concept “Taman Ter-Buka”, or Open Park — a celebration of openness as both a spatial and social idea: open space, open activity, and open community.
The park invites people to move, gather, and express themselves freely. Its flexible grounds accommodate a variety of activities — morning exercises, bird competitions, food markets, children’s play, performances, or quiet evening walks — all coexisting naturally within one continuous landscape.
At the heart of the design stands a vivid orange elevated pedestrian bridge, gently ramping up from the ground and looping across the park like a ribbon. This sculptural gesture symbolizes connection — a unifying thread that ties the community together both physically and emotionally. It offers new vantage points to experience the park and becomes a visual landmark of openness and unity.
Through its adaptable layout, community-oriented programs, and expressive form, Taman Ter-Buka redefines what a neighborhood park can be: not just a green space, but a living landscape of togetherness — open to movement, open to creativity, and open to everyone.
