“Redefining boundaries at Atma Jaya Campus”

The Atma Jaya BSD Campus landscape design that brings light, life, and seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. Opening the wall from the lobby to reconnect with the courtyard landscape. At the heart of the campus, a dynamic central space integrates academic, social, and recreational activities, encouraging collaboration and community interaction. Flexible outdoor learning areas, shaded seating, and open plazas support diverse student experiences. Blending functionality with aesthetics, the landscape transforms the campus into an inspiring environment where students can learn, connect, and thrive.

Current Condition

The Atma Jaya Catholic University BSD Campus is located in Jl. Raya Cisauk – Lapan, Sampora, BSD City, South Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. The campus lacks designated outdoor learning areas or informal group zones. Pedestrian movement across the campus can feel disjointed, with unclear or indirect links between key nodes (classrooms, canteen, library, prayer rooms), resulting in inefficient flow and dead zones. Many green areas function as buffer zones or passive lawns without meaningful programming—lacking seating, shading, or features that encourage students to linger, socialize, or study outdoors.

Site Plan

Landscape Narrative

The Atma Jaya BSD Campus landscape is designed as a seamless fusion of nature and modern infrastructure, creating an inviting transition from the outside world. A well structured entrance, enriched with lush greenery, shaded walkways, and intuitive pathways, sets a welcoming tone while ensuring smooth circulation for both pedestrians and vehicles. Thoughtful wayfinding elements and green buffers enhance orientation and campus identity, fostering a stress-free and engaging arrival experience. At the heart of the campus, a dynamic central space integrates academic, social, and recreational activities, encouraging collaboration and community interaction. Flexible outdoor learning areas, shaded seating, and open plazas support diverse student experiences, while sustainable features such as rain gardens and permeable surfaces promote environmental responsibility. Blending functionality with aesthetics, the landscape transforms the campus into an inspiring environment where students can learn, connect, and thrive.

Lobby to Outdoor Courtyard

Redefining boundaries at Atma Jaya Campus — the renovated lobby now opens up to the courtyard, blending admission and café lounge areas with the garden beyond. A design that brings light, life, and seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. Opening the wall from the lobby to reconnect with the courtyard landscape. The new design invites natural light, garden views, and a stronger indoor-outdoor flow, creating a welcoming atmosphere where the café lounge and admission area seamlessly engage with the revitalized green space.
